2017 Rosebud | SBIFF

Alara Worrick, SBCC

I’m really excited to be a part of the Rosebud program because I have a passion for film! Having the opportunity to attend screenings and participate in Q&A sessions is a unique and impactful experience to me as a young, aspiring filmmaker. I’m very thankful for this opportunity to broaden my film education.

Alexander Wehrung, UCSB

Having attended SBIFF screenings before, I can’t wait to see what the Rosebud program has in store. SBIFF brings a lot of lesser-known gems that are hard to find anywhere else. I am sure it will be very insightful to analyze their chosen movies under Professor Durling’s tutelage.

Chris Reilley, SBCC

If I’m dreaming there is no need to wake me up anytime soon. I am beyond thrilled and honored to have this opportunity to be a part of such an exclusive hands-on program within the Santa Barbara film community. As a Film Production Major, I cannot stress how excited I am to have access to pre-release screenings of some of the most highly anticipated films of this year along with Q and A sessions with the directors and the talent themselves. This opportunity I hope will help me grow as a filmmaker and further my deep appreciation and love for film.

Dale Reilley, SBCC

As a Film Production Major, getting the opportunity to be a part of something that allows me an exclusive membership, which usually costs around $1,500 along with a years-long waiting list, that grants me access to pre-release screenings of many of my most anticipated films of the year, and to Q and A sessions with the directors and talent involved in the movies afterwards is simply mind blowing. Not sure if I’m actually awake or just in a movie. Somebody pinch me.

Jacob Ayers, SBCC

My excitement for the Rosebud Program is bolstered upon a passion for screenwriting and a love for cinema that has defined my persona. As I study engineering at Santa Barbara City College I am looking forward to the program appeasing my appetite to be involved in the film industry, as it enables me to get a glimpse into the lives of those who live and breathe the film making process.

Ken White, SBCC

I’m very excited to be in the Rosebud program, and to have such a great opportunity to view and analyze the movies that are coming out within the next few months! Something like the Rosebud program comes only ever so scarcely in someone’s life, and I’m going to take hold of this program and use it to the best of my ability. Life has only begun to get really exciting, and I can thank Rosebud for that.

Miguel De La Cruz, SBCC

I’m most excited about the opportunity to see great movies that I haven’t heard of or get very little exposure on regular television. Gathering with everyone during our first meeting was great to see others talking about films the way I do. To get this chance is amazing and I’m very excited to see the various and different ways of storytelling from such great artists.

Nathan Leonard, SBCC

I’m beyond excited to be in the Rosebud Program, because for one I was born and raised in Iowa, so I never got an opportunity anything like this before I moved to Santa Barbara last year. I also have a general love for film; I am pursuing a career in acting and filmmaking, so it’s really special to get an early, in person look at new films from the people responsible for making them.

Naum Milyavskiy, UCSB

I’m excited to be part of the Rosebud program because it offers passionate students a window into an alternative cinema experience. I’m also super ecstatic about the new state-of-the-art theater equipment. I hope to come out of the program a more critical and more educated film fan/filmmaker.

Zane Stull, SBCC

I love movies and I am happy that my weekends will be filled with them. I am glad to be a part of the SBIFF Rosebud Program and to have an opportunity to influence the questions and topics presented to the filmmakers during the Q & A. I hope to contribute to the audience’s and my understanding of what inspires these artists and how they accomplished their work. I am overjoyed to be welcomed into a community that shares my love of all things film and that offers so much passion, experience and insight about the art and practice of filmmaking.
