AppleBox was launched in 2007 by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and is co-presented by Santa Barbara Children’s Museum. AppleBox is a FREE family film section for children that screens the mornings of the first and second weekends of the Festival and features family-focused films and shorts.

AppleBox provides those families whose income level may not allow them to take their families to a theater access to quality films in a festive, entertaining and supportive environment.

  • 60% of guests who attend the AppleBox Family Films have a household income of <$50K per year.

The AppleBox series aims to entertain and educate young film lovers. In 2012, AppleBox featured the Red Dog, Hugo in 3D, Kung Fu Panda in 3D, and Puss in Boots in 3D. More than 6,600 kids and families were in attendance for the free films and received free popcorn and sodas as well.
