AppleBox Family Films provides low-income families a complete moviegoing experience at absolutely no cost to them. Three screenings take place at the historic Arlington Theatre on weekend mornings during the Film Festival; two take place during the summer at SBIFF’s Riviera Theater, and ahead of each, an extensive, bilingual outreach campaign is launched to ensure that everyone in the community hears about the opportunities. The expense of taking an entire family on a trip to the movies – plus popcorn and drinks, of course! – can be prohibitive, so we work hard to keep AppleBox going—and growing. Last year, this program reached 8,000 children and their families.
